ECHORR 6th Anniversary Race Report – 08/06 and 08/07/11
Saturday 08/06/11:
The doors were scheduled to open at 9 AM, but the crowd was a little early and most was there by 8:30AM. We had racers from PA, NY, CT, NJ, and MD participating in this one, 27 in total. The day started off with greetings and setup. We randomly selected the teams for the SS class team event. We raced on the 3 great tracks at Henry Harnish’s complex. Henry has a great Bowman track, a TKO Doval and an original Tub track with lock and joiner track, quite a variation and challenge to get team cars ready for all 3 tracks. We selected 6 teams and they were allowed to tech in 10 cars for the day. After preliminary tech, it was open practice till lunch time. Lunch consisted of 2 - 3 foot heroes from a local deli and they were a big hit with the guys.
The teams were as follows:
Team 1 – Champ
Captain – Henry Harnish
Co-Captain – Joe Rinn
Butch
Randy H
John Gero
Team 2 – Donny in the Potty (Don’t ask)
Captain – Donny A
Co-Captain – Derek S
Kid Racer
Dave Vickers
Team 3 – Hotracks
Captain – Hiram
Co-Captain – Derek Wright
George III
Mike King
Team 4 – Zoomin
Captain – Paul Kniffen
Co- Captain – Victor Quinones
George II
John Vollinger
Team 5 – RMS
Captain – Rich Shmidt
Co-Captain – Dennis Moore
Ron S
Cricket S
Chief (Mario Pisano)
Team 6 – Slixx
Captain – Chuck S
Co-Captain – Dave Failing
Scott D
Jim Levan
As this format has always proven, the random teams lead to some close racing and lots of new friendships and respect for other’s building skills. This was no different, each team raced 5 races and many races were decided by less than 5 points….below are the final results:

After the team race we had about an hour and a half to have open practice for Sunday’s individual events. Then it was off to Rosie’s Italian Restaurant for some great food and adult beverages…J
Day one was awesome!!
Sunday – 08/07/11
It was raining early in the morning, but this did this not deter any of the racers. Many of us met up at the local diner for breakfast before making our way back to Henry’s.
Today all bets were off as the day was to have 2 individual race events, the Nostalgia Class on the Tub and the Indy cars on the Doval. Open practice till @ 11 AM and then the race director/dictator, Joe Rinn took over and made sure the program kept moving…great jog Joe Rinn!!! The racers were broken up into 2 groups and they raced their round robin with one class, and then switched tracks to run their other class so for most of the time both tracks were raced on and the program moved along quite well.
We did have the benefit of some NY style pizza for lunch. As always that was a welcome treat.
It was a great day of racing and very close results which is a testimony to how this club has grown over the years; the drivers and equipment have improved greatly.

Congrats to all the winners and racers on a fine showing in both classes. We gave out the trophies and finished up the afternoon planning for the next ECHORR event.
Thanks to all that made this a great weekend and thanks to all for their continued support of ECHORR.
