Henry's holiday extravaganza certainly was. The drive to Henry's house put
everyone in the holiday spirit. An overnight snow storm deposited 3 – 4 inches
of snow, that nice wet stuff that sticks to every branch. It looked like a
holiday card. Henry, how did you put that together? Oh right, Hiram had to drive
through it!

Approximately 30 racers turned out for 4 classes of racing. I say approximately
as not all racers participated in all classes. Most of these racers have seen
the Brad Bowman Randolph Raceway and that original orange Aurora tub track, but
today Henry unveiled not one but 2 new tracks for 2 classes. One was the
beautiful TKO Garden State Doval, a D shaped oval for running Indys and an
Aurora lock `n joiner recreation of the qualifying track for the 1962 Ford
Aurora Grand National race, for IROC Aurora vibrators. For those that don't
know, the vibrator was the predecessor to our beloved Thunderjet. And in keeping
with that vibrator race we used original steering wheel controllers. To level
the IROC plating field Henry sat this one out.

Okay, I'm sure those not in attendance wonder how 30 racers can race 4 classes
in one day? We split into 2 groups and ran the vibrator and super stock classes
at the same time. The format was 10 lap round robin heats scoring 6,5,4,3,2,1
(Randolph) 4,3,2,1 (vibrator) for each lane. Then switched tracks and ran again.

Dave and Donnie ran a best 2 out of 3 10 lap shoot out. Again it took 3 heats.
Good racing guys.

Ribbons and prizes were awarded and the racing finished by 4 PM!

Of course those lingering good byes took almost an hour. What a place to hang
out, 4 tracks and big screen TV. Not too mention all the "holiday shopping" that
went on. Thanks Paul and Hiram for all the great stuff!

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Holidays to all.

Henry Thanks for a great venue and hospitality!!

ECHORR Race at Parsippany Slot Car Show

This day turned out to be a great mix of racers and collectors at one great venue.
There was plenty of vintage stuff to be had from the numerous vendors that set up
at the show. ECHORR held its second race at this show and once I again it proved to
be successful, collector’s racing and racers buying collector stuff. Thanks to Pete for
letting us use his show as a race venue. Thanks to Henry Harnish, Paul Kniffen, Dave
Lockwood, Randy Haydt, Rich Schmidt, Joe Rinn and others that helped set up and
break down the Grey TKO track. Speaking of TKO, they attended this show and had
an awesome demo setup!

We ran two races, one the popular VHORS SS/FRAY cars and the other a special IROC
with X-Traction chassis set up by Chuck Sheaffer, under the new Corvette bodies being
manufactured by Tom Stumpf and Bob Beers, man these are awesome looking and handle
really well, their debut was very successful. Tom said the bodies should be available
within the next 2 to 3 weeks.

The winner of the IROC race received a complete prototype set of the corvette bodies
and all others on the podium received bodies as well, thanks Tom and Bob!!

We also had a cameo appearance by Dr, Oogan himself, Chris DeAngelis, and he donated
some of his great springs as prizes for the VHORS SS/FRAY race. Thanks Chris!

ECHORR Veteran’s Day Race Report – 11/08/09 – Thornbury Court Raceway

A total of 18 racers made their way to Thornbury Court Raceway in Westminster MD on a beautiful Indian
summer weekend. The racers started arriving on Saturday afternoon. We ran some laps, shared some tips
and set up a third track in the garage.

Racing started at 10:00 AM on Sunday after practice and breakfast. We would be running three classes of
t-jets on three different tracks. The racers were randomly placed in groups of 8. We started the VHORS SS/FRAY
race on the Bowman road course, 4 guys on, 4 guys marshaled. After they were done, they moved over to the
Tub track to race the Classic cars, again, 4 on and 4 marshalling. This format really worked well as we had both
classes done by lunchtime. After lunch it was upstairs to the Garage to run Indy cars on the Six Pack, here we
ran groups of 6 and were done racing by 3:15 PM.

Joe Rinn's Annual Hillsborough Race - 09/22/09

There was a nip in the air early Sunday morning as 19 racers made their way to Hillsborough, NJ for
some ECHORR Indy and Super Stock racing. It was in the forties, hinting that fall and The ECHORR
Challenge are right around the corner.

Racers arrived early to set up the room and haul in the red Max Trax from Henry’s motor home.
Everything was up and running by 7:30 as more racers arrived loaded down with race boxes and
Dunkin Donuts coffee and pastries as well as some home made chocolate peanut butter bars by Dr. Evil.

The format of the day was 3 minute round robin heats for Indys and 4 minutes for Super Stock.
Ribbons were awarded to first through fourth in each class and Plaques for the top three combined scores.

Pictures will be posted to the ECHORR Yahoo group site.

Chuck’s Invitational at Riverside Raceway – 06/28/09 – Race Report

First I would like to thank Chuck, Donna and Derek for their hospitality and great food!
A total of 13 racers from 3 states made the trip to Riverside Raceway, a unique challenging layout.
We raced three different events, VHORS SS/FRAY, INDY cars and a Smokey and the Bandit IROC,
oh yeah to make it even more interesting everyone qualified for the event running three laps with
a tractor railer.
Needless to say the day was a blast and a huge success for Chuck’s first race.

We ran VHORS SS/FRAY first and broke for lunch before the A main. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs were
the order of the day and there was plenty to be had along with a variety of drinks and adult beverages.
After we broke into Chris Mienke’s car to get his keys out, we went back inside to run the rest of the races.
