Hello Race Fans,
What a HO-ilday extravaganza it was at Henry Harnish's Randolph Raceway
complex!!!!!!!!!!!!
The doors opened "at 8" according to the email announcements but the lot was
full and practice was well under way by the time I arrived at 8:05.
The festivities actually began on Saturday afternoon when our host opened his
doors for practice. May racers took advantage getting dialed in for the 3
classes they could control. After practice it was off to the Millbrook pub for
dinner and then some. I didn't make but over heard the conversation Sunday and
it sounds like a good time was had by all.
By the time the green flag dropped 46 (okay Big Anthony was added as a late
racer) racers from all over the North East and Mid Atlantic states were ready to
test their skills against some of the top T-jet racers in the country. Many
making the trip for the first time.
A random drawing was held to split the racers into two groups so multiple racers
could be run simultaneously. Thanks to Russ and Derek for running their group's
races. Half the group ran Nostalgia on the Aurora `Tub Track" and the other half
the IROC race on the Ed Bianchi braided Beers Pointe Raceway (for sale call
Henry). To say these cars were almost identical is right on the money as
evidenced by the top 3 finishing on the same section. This race was decided by a
10 laptop shoot out.
Pizza arrived just as these races concluded, allowing time to set up the next
events. ECHORR Super stocks on the Brad Bowman Grand Champion Randolph Raceway
and the Indy class on the TKO Garden State Doval. All races were 1 minute heats
which allowed all 5 events to be run. The top 4 finishers in each class walked
away with ribbons and everyone walked away with great door prizes.
Thanks to ALL who sponsored the event, Paul Kniffen, Dave Lockwood, Hiram
Durant, Paul Moreau, Bob Beers, Rick Terry, Randy Haydt, Tom Stumpf and Kevin
Redcay. You guys keep us running more than Dunkin' Donuts. (Pardon the pun it's
midnight).
A special thanks to Shane and Sheldon Heister who marshaled and cleaned the IROC
cars all day without hesitation or being asked to do so…thanks guys!!
First up is the Nostalgia class on the tub, designed by Aurora for hobby shops
in the `60's, a challenging layout. I'm not saying there is a home field
advantage but… the winner is

Running 5 classes does take some time and it was now 4 o'clock. Door prizes were
handed out so those with a real long drive could hit the road. It's too bad, as
the Henry's IROC vibrator class on the TKO replica of the Aurora Grand National
qualifying track was a hoot.

**Adjusted score = 230.63 due to Tech Issues in Nostalgia Class
Dave Lockwood kept saying that Paul won and he was right. I guess he mentally
add it better than the computer did. I apologize that I made an error importing
the Nostalgia Class results into the overall spreadsheet. I did not notice it
until I was home preparing the race report.
After the ribbons and the Grand Prize, a Henry Harnish prepped Aurora vibrator
were distributed we finally straggled out around 6. Yup, that's a full day of
racing!
Thank you Henry for opening your home again for a FUN day of racing, and the
sponsors again for the great prizes.
Make sure you search You Tube "Bigmacdaddio" for videos of today's events, Also,
send him an email @

on being inducted into the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association
Hall of Fame.
I'll see some of you at Morgantown next week. The red maxx will be at the
Holiday Inn Sunday for the Morgantown toy show.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.

Parsippany Slot Car show – 11/20/11
Here we went again, another race at a slot car show…who would have thunk it…LOL, A great show
with a nice walk in crowd. Pete has really done a great job with this show to attract many vendors from
different states to participate in the show. ECHORR would like to thank Pete for letting us hold a race at
his shows. We have drawn 20 plus racers at all the shows so far and this was no exception, we had 4 junior
racers in an IROC race and 22 Adult drivers in the ECHORR SS race, total of 26 racers for the event….not bad.
Here are the results:
Junior IROC:
John Paul Ricki – 71
Dan Graziano - 61
Mark Akalewicz – 59
Larry Hannawacker – 55
Great job by all the juniors!

Another great tight race. A special thanks to Joe Rinn who gave up his racing for the day to run the computer
and direct the race. After the show some of us went over to Henry’s and as usual had a blast. See everyone at an
upcoming ECHORR event; see www.echorr.com for the schedule of upcoming races.

ECHORR Veteran's Day Race
Hello Race Fans,
On a beautiful Sunday when the doors opened at 8am 20 racers were there to honor our Veterans. RMS Motorsports in Morgantown, PA was the host of ECHORRS annual Veterans Day Race. As the day began the racers were split into two groups of 10 and the racing started at 10am on two different tracks. One group raced Super Stock on the Buck track and the other started the Indy class on the oval. When the groups were finished they switched tracks and each raced the opposite class.
The main Super Stock class was fast and tricky on some of the tight turns the Buck had to offer but the drivers did survive the challenging track. Leading the way in this class was Rich Schmidt placing first and only beating Hiram by 11 sections who finished second. Third goes to Brian who was 1 lap and 2 sections down from Hiram. Talking about this tricky turn track earlier, with Brian’s smooth driving skills he was able to run four flawless races without falling off once. Fourth place was a tie between Vic and Chuck and a run off challenge was announced. This was determined to be a 10-lap crash and burn where Chuck came away with the fourth place finish.
Next on the schedule was the Indy class on the oval in which the top 4 could not have been a closer finish. All top four racers had a 139-lap total and the winner decided by only 4 sections was Randy. George III finished second and was only 2 sections ahead of Henry who placed third. Jim Levan a welcomed rookie to the ECHORR club raced strong in all four races to finish only 2 sections behind Henry for fourth.
With the first 2 classes complete we took a pizza and snack break before running the last event of the day.
A short warm-up for the Nostalgia was run and then the racing began.
Showing us all how to run these cars was Henry with almost a 2 lap led over second place finisher Hiram. Third place went to Chuck who only finished 14 sections behind Hiram.
Fourth place ended in a tie between Joe H and Randy and another 10 lap crash and burn needed to be raced. They raced for about 4 to 5 laps but Randy kept it on the track to take forth ( for the moment ). Randy ran 13 laps in each of the four lanes that probably put the jinx on his consistent run. Randy was DQed in post tech for an undersized right front side tire giving Joe H the fourth place finish.
Everyone had fun and the racing was great all day on two well-prepared tracks by Rich Schmidt.
Thank you Michelle and Rich for a fine day of racing and your support of this hobby.
To all the Veterans of the US of A we thank you for being there when you were needed to keep our country free.

Bob Beers HO Slot Car Show
Hello Race Fans,
It was a beautiful day on Long Island for Bob Beers HO Slot Car Show and ECHORR race. It look like a lot of deals being made at the vendor tables while T-jets were being tuned and racers dialed in on Anthony Zampelli’s “portable” Diamond Plate Raceway.
The spectators really enjoyed seeing T-jets run so fast and so smooth and showed a lot of interest. Hopefully, they’ll check ECHORR out on the web and try it next year.
As race time drew near 13 racers gathered to wrestle the HOSCARS Grand National trophy from defending champion, Dave Lockwood. Based on practice it looked like it would be a difficult task indeed.
While racers occupied all 6 lanes it was difficult to have enough marshals. Of you think it’s hard to find marshals at a basement, race try to find them in a room full of thousands of slot cars and parts for sale!!!
Since there were only 14 total racers we ran 3 minute heats.
I’ve been to a lot of races but this is the first time I can remember that no one finished on the same lap.
Here are the results….

Joe Rinn's Late Summer Classic
Hello Race fans,
First , THANK YOU to all who helped with set up, running the race, tech committee and tear down, without your help this event is not nearly as much fun nor successful.
Early on a cloudy day, the morning stillness was interrupted by the sounds of a motor home hauling a trailer full of tracks. VP of Transportation, Henry Harnish pulled in about 7:20. In rapid succession, Anthony and Bruce, Donnie, PitStop and Vic pulled in to assist with bringing the track into the clubhouse and had it quickly set up. With some tweaking from Chief and Dave the track was ready for practice shortly after 8 AM and practice was underway.
A drivers meeting was held to discuss the days event and followed by a moment of silence to remember the heroes and victims from 10 years ago. Big Mac wore NYC police “Never Forget” shirt to remind us as well. We ran 2 minute heat races for both Superstock and Indy classes. Ribbons to be awarded for each class and plaques for the top3 combined scores.
When the green flag dropped for the Late Summer Classic 26 racers from NJ, PA, MD, CT and DE were on hand to tackle the yellow MaxTrax.
Here are the results from the Superstock race.

Hey, check it out, second through fourth place separated by 9 sections. With the first race over in just about 2 hours we had some time to practice for the Indy race while waiting for lunch. Pizza was delivered around 12:30 and the Indy race began at 1. Also, quickly run in 2 hours.

Again, second through fourth was really close and separated by only 7 sections. As you could see the racing was close with the winner in each race up by a couple of laps so who would be the overall winner. See below.

Henry’s 7th Annual Blast
Hello Race Fans,
Sunday September 4th may have been cloudy and humid outside but the 26 racers who showed up for all over the northeast enjoyed a pleasant day at Randolph Raceway. We had racers with 48 years experience as well as someone racing for less than a year. Quite a range!
Doors opened a little before 8, thanks to the quick service at the Randolph diner. Once the handshakes and backslapping was out of the way everyone swarmed to the fast 6 lane Brad Bowman Grand Champion and original Aurora Tub tracks for practice laps and get in that final tweaking and tuning.
Pre-tech began at 10 and the field was spilt so both classes could be run simultaneously.
A great big thank you to Tom Stumpf who provided each racer with an AFXtras AP Corvette in their choice of color.
As always the racing was close and most racers enjoyed the day. One racer actually said “it’s like Christmas.” More on that later. We took a lunch break then the two groups switched race courses and the racing continued.
When the dust settled and tech was over here are the results for :

* - Tech issues
While the top race cars were being teched door prizes were awarded. Thanks to all our sponsors (Dave Lockwood, Bob Beers, Hiram Durant, Steve Ward, Paul Kniffen, Jerry Schmoyer, and Rick Terry) who provided enough prizes so each racer was able to walk away with multiple prizes.
The Winners of the BIG prizes were Dennis Going who won a Stage III controller donated by Jerry Schmoyer and Kevin “Big Mac” McEvoy who won a KC-Jet (donated by Steve Ward and Hiram Durant) to go with that neon pink Zoomin Motorsorts Corvette body purchased earlier in the day. Now you know who felt like it was December 25th.
Thanks to all who stepped up and took a turn at the computer to keep the event running smoothly and all who helped load the tracks into the new ECHORR trailer.
Hope to see you all on Sunday September 11, for the “Late Summer Classic” hosted by Joerinn at the Huntington Park Clubhouse @ 1 Mayfair Ct, Hillsborough, NJ. Just off RT. 206. See http://www.echorr.com/page1.php for details.
