The day had finally arrived after weeks and weeks of preparation we
were ready to go and the weather cooperated! The racers Started
arriving @ 9:30AM, Paul Kniffen walked in @ 9:45 AM after driving 7+
hours to get here, now that's dedication. 19 racers showed up
representing MD, NY, KC, FL, PA, NJ and VA.
We gave the out of town guys some time on the track and caught up
with each other until it was time for the Juniors to get on the
track and show us what they had. Boy am I proud of these guys, they
are the future of the hobby and they engaged in some very close
competitive racing. Steve Briggs and Nathan Bearden from KC put on
their usual door to door racing action, Steve prevailed in this
match. Watch out for these two, when they get together they are
really good…future FRAY team material.

The festivities were staring to heat up outside, we invited the
families to this one and we had a Bar-b-que under the tent outside
and also had an inflatable playground set up for the kids to have
some fun and they had some fun!!
Now it was time for the feature race. Tech went smoothly and we ran
qualifying heats to bracket the racers into semis with bump ups
leading to the 6 man main. We had some really great racers in the
house and things started to get exciting, even stone cold Tony
Porcelli was sweating and shaking, now here is a guy who runs
unlimited cars without even blinking and he was nervous and excited
as hell racing t-jets…. You gotta love it!

Congratulations to Tony P. who showed he can still drive a t-jet,
and all the racers for a close hard fought, fun race.
Now it was time to relax!! We all went outside to partake in the
food and beverage spread. We had everything for a traditional Bar-b-
Que and some Crabs to add the Maryland flavor to it. We sat for a
while and BS'd about the race, the future of the club and future
races, it was awesome.
Now it was time to hand out the Award Plaques for the podium
finishers, Jim Nagy made some outstanding plaques for us. Top 4
Juniors and top 4 Seniors all got plaques as well as a special
plaque that was made for my better half, Janet for being the Track
Manager of the year.
Now it was on to the sponsor prizes, First up were 4 custom built
FRAY cars built by Steve Ward, Don Royal, Mike Briggs and myself.
